MAHALE MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK

Its sanctuary for Chimpanzee Mahale Mountains which has boundary with shore of Lake Tanganyika and with area of 1,600 sq km. The population of chimpanzee is estimated to 1,000 and are observed in their natural habitant in groups of 30. Baboons and colobus monkeys are found. Other animals found are lion, giraffe, leopard, buffalo, bush pigs, elephant, porcupine and antelope.Lake Tanganyika is home for more than 250 different species of fish.

Getting there : between 4 hours – 9 hours by boat from Kigoma (depending on boat), 2 hours flight from Dar es salaam/ Arusha.
